Explicit Name for New Network Drive

Post by DavidDe »

Hello guys,

I have created a new network drive by "Map network drive" from within My Computer (Windows 7) and then renamed the drive; something like MyNetDrive (R:). The issue is that Altap Salamander shows the drive by its IP address (R \\192.168.0.5\sdcard) but not with the given name (R MyNetDrive). How can I fix this ?

How did you "give" that name?

Can you access files and folders on that drive using paths starting with R:\... or with Z:\... ?

I have no problem with opening the drive and browsing it. I renamed that network drive from within My Computer (right-click -> Rename). I am expecting Altap Salamander to show "MyNetDrive" in the drive menu; but the drive is shown by the UNC path instead.

I have never tried to rename a network drive in such a way until you brought up the idea. Looks like those names are currently not used by Salamander, as you found out. They seem to be located in the registry: reg:\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MountPoints2\##Machine#Share#Subfolder#Subsubfolder\_LabelFromReg
Using these names in Salamander would be nice I guess.
