We are calling WSAStartup (and result is checked) when FTP Client plugin is loading, so error message is probably without sense. We don't have any idea what can cause such problem, we are sorry.

When you close and open again Salamander, does FTP plugin work again or not?

OK, please try just to unload FTP plugin if it helps or not. When this FTP problem occurs: go to menu Plugins / Plugins Manager, locate FTP Client plugin, click Unload button, then close dialog and try to use FTP again, it will be loaded again and it will try to initialize WSA again. Thanks for testing!

This could mean that something is wrong with your netwok configuration. Some sysytem files may have broken.
Start CMD as a administrator (WinKey+x) and scan for corrupted system files by using sfc /scannow
Check the generated report for errors and report back please.

You might also update your network drivers. (NIC, WiFi)

I get this message:
C:\Windows\system32>sfc /scannow

Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
Verification 100% complete.

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some
of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For
example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. Note that logging is currently not
supported in offline servicing scenarios.
The Log-File is very full with error-message, for example:
2015-05-21 22:31:20, Info CSI 0000076d [DIRSD OWNER WARNING] Directory [ml:520{260},l:38{19}]"\??\C:\Windows\ADFS" is not owned but specifies SDDL in component Microsoft.IdentityServer.Web.Resources, pA = PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE_MSIL (8), Culture = [l:10{5}]"zh-HK", VersionScope = 1 nonSxS, PublicKeyToken = {l:8 b:31bf3856ad364e35}, Type neutral, TypeName neutral, PublicKey neutral
I have now update my driver for the Intel(R) Ethernet Connection I217-V. I hope this works.

You seem to have Active Directory Federation Services installed and The permissions are not set correctly.
But I dont think thatt his would be the casue for the error mentioned.
If the new driver does not work, you can reset the winsock by following these instructions.

Try to create a new administrative account and test it with it.

Can you verify the network functionality by using a different FTP client? (i.e. FileZilla)

I use flashfxp, this program works fine (even full upload is possible on a 100 mbit-download line => 10 mbyte per second; with salamander only 1,5 mbyte :-( )

my hope is that in windows 10 the program works well.

Salamander loads different libraries from v8.x,9.x, and 11.x branch. What I cant see is is the 8.x version.
On my OS, Salamander also loads msvcr80.dll v8.0.50727.6195. Although I am not sure if this is related to the problem or not.

Did you try the 32 bit version of Salamander?
BTW go to http://www.ma-config.com/ and scan your system. You will be offered a list of updated drivers which you can download there and install.
