.reg files in internal viewer
.reg files in internal viewer
Viewing a "Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00" .reg-file in the internal viewer looks very strange (see attachment). Everything is okay with "REGEDIT4" .reg-file which is the format altap salamander exports its own registry.
A bug?

Unicode and Configuration - Internal Viewer - Line Ends - NULL checked.
.reg v. 5.0 is unicode formated (two bytes per char) and second byte is usually zero, which by-default breaks line in internal viewer.

We plan to support Unicode in Salamander 3.0, please look at roadmap.
Have to disagree on this one.
Making the entire application Unicode compatible is one thing.
But the viewer? Why not? Why the wait?
MS has used Unicode since what, NT?
Do we need to use Universal Viewer (ATViewer), Win32Pad, or similar, just so we can "properly" view a Unicode file?

Re: .reg files in internal viewer
any news about this issue? When do we get a fix?

Re: .reg files in internal viewer
JFYI, the File Comparator plugin does support "Unicode" (UTF-16 encoded) files. So if you really have to, compare the file you want to view (as text) with some other file.

The issue still occurs in 3.0 EAP. Are there any plans to fix this?

Unfortunately the Unicode support was postponed after 3.0 release, updated roadmap is available at http://www.altap.cz/salamander/roadmap/
