Folders Windows 7

Post by triplexxx »

Hallo!

Altap Salamander 2.54 displays Links in Windows 7 as Directorys. E.g. Documents and Settings.

Is that a bug?

It works as desired, we don't see the problem...

Please see the two pictures. The first shows how Total Commander handles Directories and Links, the second one how Altap Salamander does.

Picture 2: http://img842.imageshack.us/img842/3946/image004c.jpg

It seems, that Altap Salamander makes no difference between Directories and Links.

Bug or Feature?

Best Regards

Neither. Your observation is inaccurate, because there's another overlay on the icon that takes precedence. If you disable the SharingPrivate overlay in Options > Configuration... > Icon Overlays, you will see the "link" overlay.

Anyway, is there any other aspect to the difference of links and directories you expected to see, other than their icon?

That was it! :D

But why does Altap Salamander mark a Link as a Directory? (in difference to Total Commander - Picture 1)

Because it's a link to a directory and therefore behaves as one. If you create a link to a file, you can view the contents, maybe execute it, like a real file. If you create a link to a directory, you can open it and explore the files inside. If you have a different opinion on how links should be presented and why, please do tell.

mhh ...I agree, but I think it should be named as "Link" in the Salamander Window (like Total Commander does), a not as "Directory" because it's no directory, only behaves as one .... I can see it now on the icon, that it is a Link, but it is named as Directory ... an that's what I do not understand.
