Drag & Drop not working

Post by chipili »

Something has changed with Sal or my Windows!

I used to be able to drag and drop into and out of Salamander.

Now I get a circle with a bar (a prohibition sign) and things are not copied or moved.

Drag 'n Drop works within Salamander between panels.

I'm running in Windows 7, I have given admin rights in properties advanced.

I have purged and clean re-installed 2.53.

This is a new "feature" that I would rather not have!

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I might beat this?

Hi Nick, please try to run Salamander without "As Administrator" option. Does Drag&Drop work in this case?

It seems to work (tried once).

It worked previously as admin, it only stopped today! - something somewhere has changed and I'm constantly being told I can't do stuff when I'm not admin.

It depends on second application you are trying to drag&drop with. Run it "As Administrator" (as Salamander) and d&d will work.

It is security feature implemented from Windows Vista a 7, not Salamander feature.

It is security feature
It is nothing more then a BS, asinine way in which MS has implemented elevation & related "features", IMHO.
It is getting to be really infuriating. I've got a few more things (over time) that I'll try, but after that, I'm going to say screw it & revert my user accounts back to Admins.
