Making ISO

Post by canefield »

Hey guys,

Perhaps an idea to make a tool for ISO creation. Something like WinImage or others. With that piece integrated we only need AS! No software of third-parties.

As an supplement to add/change/remove bootable information, etc. Make AS the only software to be!

Thanks in advance,
Canefield

It is definitely possible with Altap Salamander SDK.

I am afraid it is not the right approach. You could reask using the same topic.

Guys,

First, thanks. But the problem is I don't know how to work with SDK. So isn't possible to make a plugin for it.

A plugin for editing ISO/images (to add/change/remove bootable information, etc.) and mounting ISO/images?
Hopefully this can be done.

Thanks a lot.

I'm afraid that image editing is a task too complex to be implemented for AS only. I'd see interfacing with an external "packer" (maybe mkisofs) as a viable alternative. But still, it would be only image creating, not editing; even such advanced software like IsoBuster doesn't support image editing because of its complexity. Regarding other software which includes this function, I'm afraid they mostly only re-create the image instead of real editing (though I haven't verified my claim). I (or someone else here) could help with integrating mkisofs as an external packer.

There's so much software available at no cost for mounting images into virtual drives. Why not use them?
