ROFL

Altap, what about disabling posting from guests and confirm user registrations manually? This spam really sucks. Anonymous/guest users can just read forum and eventually send bug reports by e-mail if they don't want to register.

I don't like the idea to disable postings from quests - this forum is support forum for great program. User shouldn't need to register, if they want to ask just one question.

On some sites, there is "Report spam" button on the forums - maybe, if enough registered users or "trusted" users press this button, the post can be hidden until Altap decides, it's spam or not. But I'm not sure, if there is similar functionality for phpBB forum...

OK, stop kidding about blocking IP, when all you can sometimes get is only ISP IP (so you disable all users) or one of thousands anonymizers

Sure, but that requires some effort and time so they will most probably choose another forum for spamming.

What about adding some captcha for unregistered users? It works fine for me (forum.id3renamer.com).
Registered users aren't disturbed with code and unregistered have to fill the code, so spammers go rather to another site.

Maybe should altap think about this. 8)

There is already captcha on our forum, but it seems to be obsolete (broken by spammers). We are going to test some more secure implementation.

Please do something about the spam.

It will kill the forum (many of us will quit reading/contributing), unless something is done to improve the situation.

Sorry to be so harsh, but...

Yes, we will try better captcha soon. If it will not stop spam, we will close posting for guests.

Yesterday I've used this php captcha class
http://www.ejeliot.com/pages/2

Implementation is very easy (for a PHP developer) and it works...
You have to use atleast 3 font types, more is better...
If you need help... just say so...
