Date-driven release model?

Post by .me »

What does "date-driven release model with one year period" mean?

SS2.6 in 2006 and SS2.7 in 2007...
or
one-year licences?

IMHO this is one year version release model, not the licence.

But maybe will Altap start serving some licences to the fixed period :?

We want to release major versions (2.5, 3.0, etc.) of Servant Salamander more frequently.

What about licence? Will be my licence for 2.0/2.5 expired with version 3.0?

We have decided not to offer lifetime licenses. Upgrade from 2.0 to 2.5 will be free of charge. The upgrade fee for the next major versions will be approximately 50% of the standard product price.

Nobody expect to get a lifetime licence for 24USD.
I guess, most users can live with this solution (me too) but a final not-exceeding 2.xx version would be great.
Btw. Today I tested the SS2.5beta to see what happens if Y2K7.. arrrgghhh!

Do you mean the expiration of beta versions? There will not be such limit in the final version.

We apologize for this inconvenience however we don't know the other way to ensure that our beta testers will use latest beta version. The whole update process (core and plugins) will be simplified, we have this task on our internal to-do list. Idealy, it will be one-click or automatic action.
