REPLACE /U

Post by SvA »

Is it possible to do the equivalence of the command line command REPLACE /U, i.e. to overwrite existing, but older files in one panel from the contents of he other.
It is relatively simple to do an update including adding new files using Crtl+F10 folder compare, but how to not select unique files?

I am aware, that this will not work with subdirectories.

Compare Directories (Ctrl+F10)
- deselect all options
That will give you unique files in each panel.

Invert ('*) the selected files in the source directory.
That will give you only files that exist in both panels.

Copy (F5) | Options -> Overwrite older and skip other existing files without asking

---

I think that should do it?

Thank you, therube

Yes, that should do it, unless "Include directories to select/unselect operations" is selected in Options | Panels, in which case the directories present only in source need to be deselected again before copy. Unfortunately, in the advanced copy options the Directory attribute is disabled (why?)

Is there any efficient way to handle those directories?

Edit:
I found one: don't deselect Compare subdirectories in the Compare Directories step
