Create Directory - Trailing dot (.), oddity, bug, feature change?

Thought there might have been a change in that respect, but didn't find it.
No big deal... I understand whats going on.

SS 2.54 would create the directory, silently deleting the ".".
AS 3.06 gives you the error.

Shift+F4 -> R.E.M.
Creates a file "R.E.M" silently deleting the ".".

I can confirm. I remember there was some change in this, probably in or before v3.0b1, see changelog.
changelog wrote:Create Directory: added removing of spaces from beginning and end of specified directory name.
It would be nice for file and directory creation to work the same in this regard.

Well, I have fixed this. Edit New File, Create Directory, and Quick Rename in panels and Rename in PictView plugin: it eliminates spaces at beginning and all dots and spaces at ending of new filename. This is completely new in Edit New File. Other commands have already eliminated spaces (but no dots).
