Another tip
Alt+F5 (Pack) ->
Down arrow
Alt+F9 (Unpack) ->
Down arrow
selects the first item from history where is prepared path to the other panel.
Depends on settings Options > Configuration > Archives
[ ] Pack to other panel
[ ] Unpack to other panel

Do you know the power of SHIFT+F7 ("Change directory")
- cool: c:\windows\expl* = select the first matching file
Nice side effect
Even
c:\w*\s*32 works for
C:\Windows\System32 on my disk.
Beware: this feature is not officially supported and result depends on files and directories order in your file system.

Haha. Once again a key exists for things i've been doing manually. My way is press ENTER on archive, hit NUM + (select all), F5 to other panel.
ALT+F9 will save me buttloads of time
I don't think to look even at the hintbar below sometimes as I am in a rush.

SS will allow multiple instances of itself to run as a feature, but this can be disabled (and should be when using a hotkey it will just bring SS to the front/foreground) by choosing Options | General | [x] Allow only one instance of SS at a time. In this way you can use WIN+S to bring up SS at ANY time -- very cool!
grymmjack, how do you set-up win key for shortcut? i can use only ctrl / alt / shift modifiers. i've even tried hex-editing the shortcut file but with no result. i'm using windows xp.
my tips:
num * - select all files
(uses shortcut for inverting selection)
ctrl + num * - select all files and directories
ctrl + home - focus first file

mazy I use an app called hotkey xp. It is linked below since author changed/updated new version.
http://www.funklabs.org/share/hkcontrol.exe
Scanned before post with NAV
No problems.
CTRL+Home is useful

I don't use it any more, because changing drives can be done with Shift+<drive-letter>.
To change the path to a definition: Shift+<digit>.
Very often I use Alt+Ins to copy the full path to the clipboard, e.g. when adding attachments to emails.

another great function of this feature:
you can access network-shares directly (like \\server\share) without assigning a drive letter (too bad \\server alone is not enough).

Ctrl+Alt+Ins I use to copy path for new installations.
But with attachments emailing just Ctrl+E.

File Comparator tip:
Find different files using the Commands > Compare Directories command.
Use the Edit > Advanced > Hide Unselected Names command before you use the File Comparator plugin.

#12 - Copy paste paths quickly - Right click panel toolbar area, choose "Directory Line", now venture to a deep path, now hover mouse over each directory in path and right click and choose Copy to Clipboard!
The same functionality for files? No problem. Highlight your file and choose F2, CTRL+C, ESC. Filename now on clipboard. Want all highlighted files? Easy. Highlight files (INS, INS, INS, INS), CTRL+M, set dialog to this: destination: Clipboard, Line: $(FileName)$(CRLF), done. Of course you can modify Line: to be whatever you like with handy macros/variables picked from the chevron menu (the right pointing arrow to the right of line textbox).
Take a look at the Edit menu - even quicker ways to copy pathnames!
The two I use the most:
Copy Path + Name as Text - Alt+Insert
Copy Path as Text - Ctrl+Alt+Insert
and to save you a few keystrokes to copy the filename:
Copy Name as Text - Alt+Shift+Insert
Thanks for the great tips!
The other thing I love is that if you have a path in your clipboard, you can hit Ctrl+v and Servant Salamander will navigate to that path!

It will even focus the file name stored on Clipboard.
