PE Viewer Enhancement

Hi,

I'd like to see an enhancement to the PE-Viewer. It would be so great if AS would also show what Windows displays if you right-click an executable, select properties and go to the Details-Tab. For example, if you press F3 on salamand.exe:

Description: Altap Salamander, File Manager
Type : Application
File version: 3.0.1.126
etc etc etc

Like http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/461 ... n-informat does ;-)

bye,
Michael

I suuport that feature request as well.
'File version' and 'Product version' are two *.exe properties most useful for me, and I can see them only with Windows Explorer's right-clicking and going further to details, while PE Viewer could provide more comfortable and easy way to get that information.

Where would you place this information? End of existing document?

Well, for me it would be better to see this information either at the very beginning, or placed instead of all other things.
Sorry, I have no idea what are all those headers for - and information about different DLLs is too abundant for requested features to be placed at the end of existing document.

Maybe there could be an option introduced? Like an ability to switch (or to set in the Cofiguration) between displaying either just base information (name, company, file version etc. - about 10 lines, I think) for us simple users - or that complete list of 'headers' for the developers who would understand and appreciate all those mysterious numbers.

The question is if it is PE Viewer what you are looking for. Is there any information you need? Maybe it should be a new viewer?

Sure, it could as well be a new little viewer to be used instead of PE viewer with *.exe files.
At least for me, there is nothing I can use or understand there now.

I'd like to see it at the top of the document... Or just above the import table...

at the start for sure, maybe something like:

File type: WINDOWS EXECUTABLE

File version: 3.2.1.1245 (Debug/Release)

File Header:
Machine: 0x014C (Intel x86)

It seems that the new PE viewer in 3.07 version has been enhanced indeed, thanks!

But why does it still describe 16-bit applications for Windows 3.x in one line only as 'File Type: OS2 EXECUTABLE'?
As far as I know, Windows 3.x is not the same thing as OS2!

Windows 3.x and OS/2 had a different executable format than newer Windows, so from the point of view of PE Viewer, they're both foreign. Is your complaint only regarding the text displayed, or would you like to see some detailed info about the EXE?

Of course, some detailed info about the EXE (like in 32x and 64x bits) would be great.
But at least that text could be supplemented with '16-bit Windows application' or something.
