Send selected (multiple) files to editor

Post by Eva Eden »

Hi there,

is there a way to select multiple files and send them to an extern editor?
I think at the moment this is only possible with an automation script...
But with Crtl-Shift-F3 or Crtl-Shift-F4 for selecting a (alternative) viewer/editor it would be more than great!!!

Thanks a lot!
Eva~

PS: I'm asking for this new feature, because I'm looking for a comfortable way to e.g. compare 2 files with WinMerge. The WinMerge (only 32bit version available) context menu won't be displayed under a 64bit system in Altap Salamander Window.

You are looking for User Menu advanced parameters such as $(FileToCompareLeft).

Thank you very much Jan!

Great work!!! :D

But nevertheless, these features would be very nice to have: :P

1) The mentioned environment variables (from user menu) also in the editor and alternative viewer settings (e.g. selected files in Crtl-Shift-F3/F4).
2) The same context menu as in windows Explorer.

Thx a lot!

You can start the editor, select the files and drag'n'drop them into the editor. Most editors support this way to open files.

OK, ok... Thx

But it's the task of a file manager to handle the file operations. I want to select the files and open them with an alternative editor/viewer. And this is exact the Ctrl-Shift-F3/F4 feature of Salamander.

Well, sometimes it's nice to be able to edit just the one focused file when there are others selected, so I definitely wouldn't like Salamander to this behavior by default without the option to disable it.
