Could you please add a button that allows me to "flat" a directory structure, that is to display all the files inside the current directory and its subdirectories?

While it's not possible now. You can try rough workaround, and find *.*. In result you get all files in (sub)dirs in one view. Try Find Shift+F7, select all Ctrl+A, copy Ctrl+C, create somewhere temp dir F7, create shortcuts Ctrl+S, thumbnails Alt+F5, go to shortcut file Ctrl+T
