Hard restart when copying

Post by HightowerCZ »

Hi,

I was copying virtual drives, but my computer stop responding and I have to restart.
Before copying there was 54 GB free on disk, but when I start PC, delete files which was succesfully copied, there was only 37 GB.
So, it looks like some part of disk looks like allocated, but there isnt file - I cant erase it.

Can you help me? I can reinstall PC, but it is really brutal.
Thanks
Jakub

Assuming the filesystem is okay (because you ran checkdisk), all the space in the volume should be either free or taken by files. Use the DiskMap plugin to check if there are any new large files.

Never even knew that existed ;-).

Much faster, in particular if you're starting from root, WizTree finds the files and folders using the most disk space on your hard drive.

Don't delete these files manually.

hiberfil.sys is used for hibernation, hybrid sleep (and possibly hybrid shutdown), so if you use any of these features, there's no point in deleting it. The correct way of removing it is to disable hibernation in the Control Panel.

System Volume Information contains mostly backups for System Restore and File History. There should be an option to delete older backups somewhere in the Control Panel.
