I rename my files like I rearrange my home office ---> much too often!
Commands > Compare Directories forces "with same name"
Commands > FInd Files and Directories >
- Named *.*
- Look in e:\Lots_of_BackUps
- Check Search file content -
- Check Search subdirectories
- Commands
- Find Duplicate Files
- Uncheck Name; Check Size and Content
- OK
- Salamander finds them and groups the duplicates together
and uses shadows to differentiate the groups
??????????? Click on Path doesn't work
??????????? View > Sort by Path is BLOCKED
- Cursor back up to "Look in" and enter one of the subdirectories:
e:\Lots_of_BackUps\Last_Month
- Commands > Refine - Subtract from Found Items
??????????? REMOVES THE ENTIRE LIST !!!!!!!!!
??????????? The manual suggests that is how you search
for cars and then limit to john within cars.

I'm hoping there is a solution in the Vers 3.0 I purchased today.
Any ideas? Thanks
Directory Compare by size/content (ignore name) won't sort
Re: Directory Compare by size/content (ignore name) won't so
While Salamander is very good at much, it only provides very basic duplicate file handling, IMO.
Two very good, full featured duplicate file finders:
Duplicate Cleaner (free version is most likely sufficient).
AllDup (free)
