View files in VirtualBox hard drive

I have installed VirtualBox in Win7 Pro. I need to use a virtual XP inside of it. Is there a way in Win7 to view the files in the XP virtualBox hard drive? I don't have XP installed in the virtualbox yet. I believe the virtual hard drive is VirtualBoxDisk1.vdi

Thank you,

I am not sure about *.vdi, but *.vhd (virtual harddrive files made by Microsoft Virtual PC) could be attached in Windows 7 just as normal hard drives.
Press 'Start', then 'Run' and print 'diskmgmt.msc' - there is 'Attach virtual hard drive' command in menu panel there.

There is no plugin for direct VirtualBox VDI browsing.

What about network access from Win7 to XP when XP is running?

Note: It looks like there are drivers for mounting VDI to Windows: https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?t=4748
You will probably need to turn off XP to mount it into guest OS.

There are some plugins for Total Commander: Total7zip opens some virtual drives as archives. It works in Altap Salamander via tcproxy - with UDF, FAT, VHD etc. Maybe Salamander's own 7zip plugin could work this way as well?
There is also Virtual Disk - but I haven't yet made it work in Salamander.

And vdi are also mounted by WinMount - but that is not free unfortunately.
