deleteing files directly in vista 64

Post by zxspectrum »

Hi, i just installed the new version of salamander, imported old configuration .I want to delete some files from a NTFS partition and i get this error: Error:(5) Access is denied.
However, if i change option from configuration menu "recycle bin/remove files and directories immediately when deleted to move all deleted files and directories to the recycle bin" it works normal, the files are properly deleted.
Why do you guys think this is happening?

P.S. I use vista x64 sp2,and recycle bin is configured to not move files to recycle bin, remove them immediately.

Thanks

See if CTFMON.EXE is running (as a Process in Task Manager).
If so, kill it & see if the problem subsides.

(Could be you actually need CTFMON, & if killing it does fix it for you, you wouldn't be in a position to disable it permanently?)

In my earlier thread I mentioned, "On the Delete end of the problem, it definitely appears to be Shift+DEL (bypassing the Recycle Bin) where this is observable. I am not noticing it with simply using the DEL key.". Sounds like what you've described.

Are you running Altap Salamander at an elevated administrative level (i.e., RIGHT-click, "Run as Administrator"?

I have faced similar issues even while running Salamander at elevated admin level.

Add takeown/ icacls to your right context menu -

Backup the registry 1st via cration of a system restore point -
START | type rstrui | create system resore point

Download the attached zip file, extract the .reg file to Documents. 2x-click on the .reg file and allow registry merge to take place.

Go back to to the folder/ file in question, RIGHT-click on it & "Take Ownership". Then try file deletion.

I think you need to install unlocker that inform what process lock certain files.ts a nice tool which can help to solve such lock problems.
