No files are matching in Batch Rename

Batch Rename shows "No files are matching entered mast."
I don't understand why when the file search shows files with the name Errol in it.

I can get message "No files are matching entered mask." only if I start Renamer on empty directory and then click Include subdirectories. Do I expect properly you have started Renamer on all selected items in panel with C:\ path?

When you open Renamer, do you have anything in Preview listview? When do items disappear? After clicking Include subdirectories? Or when you enter "errol" or "jeff" or click some other options? Please give us more information. Thanks!

Versions of Windows and Salamander?

I get "No files are matching entered mask."No files are matching entered mask.

When I choose View, Successfully Renamed files. I should (Want to) see the files with Errol in the name of the files. You see there are files with Errol in the name in my example print screen.

Win7 ultimate
Salamander 3.06 (x86)

Thank you,

You inadvertently hit the F7 key, which says to [only] show 'Successfully Renamed Files'.
Try the F6 key instead.

Your wanting to view [only] the files that will be renamed, prior to renaming them is logical.
Wonder why that option isn't there.
(With a huge list of files, like you're apt to come up with in this case, it would certainly be wanted.)

(Never even knew it was there. Now I'm going to have to investigate what the other Options might or might not do ;-).)

You can use View > Successfully Renamed Files only after clicking Rename button to see the list of successfully renamed files. Before renaming it is empty list, that's ok. Moreover even if name is not changed by renaming, you will see it on the list of successfully renamed files (it indicates there was no error).

Names without change have gray color instead of black in Preview list view before renaming. There is no option to show only names which will be renamed (hide names without change). In your case you can enter mask "*Errol*" (without quotes) to see only names with "errol".

Thank you for the reply.

With the settings you suggested this is what shows:

What I expected is to see only the files that have errol in the file name.

Thank you,

Please enter "*Errol*" to Mask box (on the top of window).

... and there's something more: in the Search for box you enter a string, not a file mask. Since '*' is illegal as a file name character, there is no chance anything was renamed using your setup.
If you indeed need a search pattern in the Search box, you will need to use regular expression syntax and tick the corresponding option below.

Ah, so he did.
And because the screenshot is hosted externally, & because its [external] name remained the same, there was no need to "modify" anything here on this board, so there is no "modified" indicator in the original thread.
Neat.
