German character problem in 64bit version

Post by peschi001 »

Hello,

I have a problem with 64 bit version 3.06 (x64) working with German character.
My windows is actual version 10 in German.
"Beschlussvorlage fu¨r die LK 29.4.docx" is a copy and paste from F2 on this file.
Windows displays this file as "Beschlussvorlage für die LK 29.4.docx".
When I copy files from A to B this file produces an error like "Error (2) the
program cannot open the file"....

Hi Peter,

Problem will be probably Unicode related. Could you please check Windows 10 Regional settings for non-Unicode applications? Do you have German language selected there?

This seems to be rather a case of pre-composed vs. combining characters in Unicode. In the screenshot, there are filenames with the same rendering, but different encoding.

I can't even post the combining form in this forum, because it automatically normalizes it :), so at least the hex codes in UTF-8:

Code: Select all

Hello,
now I am working with the actual Windows 10 64 bit version (anniversary update)
and the actual Salamander version and I have still the same problem. Other programs
working correctly with these German characters (e.g. Total Commander).

I still think, this is a problem with Salamander.
