feedback on RC3 fast rename [F2] (delay)

Post by hotdog »

hi folks,

I'm currently evaluating RC3 and I just came across this symptom when I press F2 on a file or directory: it takes about half a second to show the new rename dialog. I realize there is some added functionality (skipping the extension, which is VERY welcome btw) but this delay was never noticeable in the previous RC versions of salamander. Ok, I admit this is not a bug, but I wanted to report it because there may be something wrong that is slowing down this function.

btw, RC3 is a big improvement! You did a heck of a job Altap!

I cannot reproduce such behavior...
On my system is this action instant (not measurable).

Does this also happen with system explorer's F2 rename function?

I think that you could have some shell extension problems. Try to check it with http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.html

Could you please test RC2 now?

just checked it on RC2 and there's no problem

nevermind, I must have been deceived by the "Rightmark CPU utility" which was running my CPU on "power on-demand" mode, so the overall system performance was very low.

thanx for your prompt replies
