Portable Altap Salamander v2
Posted: 06 Feb 2015, 13:02
No bat files, works fine with multiple instances of AS. Config file is stored in AS directory as a single .dat file
How to use:
AS = Altap Salamander
XML = salamand_portable.xml
1. Download and unpack the attached file. It's recommended to place XML into AS folder. If you placed XML to some other folder, edit 'exePath' in XML to match the full path of 'salamand.exe' on your machine. 'RunAppPortable.exe' and other files can be also put into AS folder unless you plan to run some other apps in portable mode using RunAppPortable.
2. Create a shortcut to 'RunAppPortable.exe' and specify XML path as parameter (see attached picture). You can also change icon of the shortcut to the one used by 'salamand.exe'.
3. Enjoy. Feedback is welcome here
Features:
- Portable version works without conflicts with normal version
- "(Portable)" is appended to window title
- Tested to work on different machines when AS is located in Dropbox
- Works on network drives
- Works well with multiple AS instances
- Source code to be available soon
Known limitations of RunAppPortable:
- Requires process elevation (administrator rights)
- No 64-bit executables support (soon)
- Not much tested with other apps, but it should work
