You can try using Thumbnail Database Viewer. It's useful when the images were deleted from the directory, i.e. mostly for forensic analysis.

Disabling them would be even better.

Hmmm, the PictView plugin uses these files. Could somebody provide me sample thumbs.db from Windows 7, please?

From earlier post:
MartinS wrote:Just for info, this is changed since Vista - there is a centralized storage for thumbnails and previews in \Users\[User Account Name]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer
This is the same for Windows 7 - there are few centralized files containing database of all thumnbails used in the system (one file for one size of thumbnails). Last time I saw these files the biggest one was 1GB of data...

Personally I would suggest using IShellItemImageFactory (Vista+) instead of custom platform dependant reader implementation ;-)

There seems to be a problem with this plugin and IE9 - thumbnails don't show anymore.

I posted problem here: http://forum.altap.cz/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=4572 but it's simple as that - if user installs IE9 thumbnails don't work in AS, while in Windows Explorer shows expected (I checked this on 2 Win 7 PCs)

Sorry for false alarm

It seems that Explorer folder option 'Always show icons, never thumbnails' was turned on (not by me, but some program like IE9 or so)
As I noticed that even Explorer doesn't show thumbnail now, I start checking those options and luckily found the cause
Only I don't know how Explorer was showing thumbs when AS didn't (when I first noticed this issue) but nevermind, I'm happy cube again :)

hi omga

ah sorry - i should have seen that, but i have tried thumbnails before, and done so now.

now some of the jpg's are shown, but not all, and none of the .mov files.

strange, when they all are shown in the file browser...

the reason why .mov or other movie file types don't have thumbnails is because it's not supported. Here's a list of types that Salamander supports
https://www.altap.cz/salamander/feature ... il-images/

Some jpg files or other image files not able to show thumbnails is due to the fact that PictView doesn't use the Windows thumbnail system. Zarevak made this Explorer Plugin for AS 2.5 which uses the Win thumbnail system to address this issue.

Here's a link for more information viewtopic.php?f=2&t=37088#p61880 which address for example pdf types as well.
