I have irfanView and some other on some PCs but why dont use thumbs when I see it ? I can use printscreen when I need one thumbnail (it is slow method)
For web I need thumbnails for all files in folder.
I have files with thumbnails which are not pictures like video, cad files (dxf, ckd) and so on.

NConvert : Commercial use is not authorized without agreement.

Just to let everyone know: New version of Explorer Thumbnails plugin has been released. It fixes small issues and mainly adds support for new Vista interfaces. This will magicaly enable plugin to use Vista's global cache to speed up thumbnail loading ;) New version also fixes the difference between low-quality 0.1 thumbnails and higher-quality Explorer thumbnails.

Download from the first post.

zarevak, thank you very much for improving Explorer Thumbnails. There is a visible increase in thumbnail quality! Thank you very much!!!

konelupy IrfanView can run from a pen disk so you don't need to install on any machine (it writes to a INI file on the same path as the exe).
Of course if you are using it commercially, you can buy a license...

Ondøej Zarevúcky, one really minor thing: the link mentioned in About does not work.

The requested URL /explorerthumb was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Thank you for reminder - The website is not yet created

I see another problem there: My name is Ondřej Zarevúcky (Ondřej as in CS:Svatý Ondřej or Saint Andrew). It seems you have different codepage set and "ř" gets changed to "ø". I will have to fix it by removing the haček.

One small question: what would you like to see on the webpage?

Hi Ondřej, at least a link to the most recent version would be useful.

Re: Explorer Thumbnails Plugin: Problem using it

Post by bibliomusic »

I downloaded and configured it, and I think F3 should make it work. But on various thumbs.db files (created by Explorer) Salamander only views with the internal viewer and the same with Alt-F3. I tried using Files "view with" but that plugin isn't listed in the list and I can't find a way to add it, although other plugins are listed.
What am I missing here, please? I am using XP Pro
Thanks in advance.

Hi bibliomusic,
Explorer Thumbnails plugin is only for displaying file thumbnails in Salamander's panel. Some users were asking, why Salamander cannot display thumbnails for some files, while Windows Explorer can display them. This plugin uses the thumbnails system used by Windows Explorer and solves this question ;)

Explorer Thumbnails is not a Viewer plugin.

By the way: Format of thumbs.db files are changing in each version of Windows and contain only image data. Creating Viewer for thumbs.db would be hard :( Also I don't see any use for viewing such files.
