2Guest That remark is totally uncalled for. Even if you meant it "tongue in cheek" (did you?) it just came off as insulting and myopic. Why should any users care how long the beta lasts if the software works as well as Salamander does? The "beta" condition certainly hasn't affect...

Request: PictView image zoom in/out with mouse wheel

This is a request to add an option to the PictView "Keyboard & Mouse" configuration page to enable zooming with the mouse wheel. It would be great if the zooming centered on the mouse screen location.

I searched the forum and found a topic in Czech that may be the same request.

You're may be right, but my (perhaps mistaken) understanding of HTML help has been that the developer can control what appears in the menus. I haven't built HTML help myself, though. Was scanning the new Salamander Help only out of curiosity and as a courtesy to the developers who spent so much time...

That did it!

Thank you very much.

My request for font size directly from help still stands, though!

Sorry, that doesn't work on my system, not in Salamander Help and not in IE (I have IE V7 installed). Ctrl-scroll wheel does nothing.

RC2 Congratulations! and Request

Wow, the help file is very nice! Thank you!

Request:

Is it possible to include a menu item that would allow me to"zoom" the help? Maybe the ability to change the fontsize up or down in increments is what I need (the help text is very small on my screen).

Or am I missing something?

Adobe's new photo editing tool Lightroom uses the DNG format. Lightroom is a lossless editing tool designed for RAW-style work-flows, though it allows a user to import from JPG into DNG to obtain the benefits of RAW-style process (non-destrictive versioning, etc) for "ordinary" image files...

Hi Jan...

I can send CRW RAWs from a Canon G2. A single file is >3Mb.

How would you prefer files be transmitted?

This seems to be a perfect example of the usefulness of a column plugin. Does the SDK address custom file panel columns a la the TC wcx plugins? It would a straightforward matter to match the filenames and lines in the descript.ion file and post the descriptions to a column. Sure hope the SDK suppor...

Yeh... I think maybe the animation is just an artifact of the technique used to force the GIF to display the 65k colors. Opera shows the animation to the final image, which I'm now thinking is wrong. GIMP2 just shows the final color ramp, albeit with a hesitation while it (apparently) performs the a...

PictView: GIF display problem

In another Internet forum I encountered a discussion of a problematic GIF image.

The GIF in question is this one: http://phil.ipal.org/tc217.gif

PictView shows it incorrectly as does nearly every tool I have.

The only tools I have found so far that show it correctly are Opera(!) and theGIMP.

It would seem very important to maintain the Salamander part of the name. The software's identity is "Salamander" and you risk harming whatever market awareness and trust you have earned by renaming it. Better to come up with some sort of mythology behind the name to justify it. A parable,...

Plus... this looks to me like a very good generic tool, not just for Salamander.

Many years ago I found (on the web) an example for sub-classing applications into a user's program window with Visual Basic, but lost the source for it.

Maybe such a tool is already "out there"?

Perhaps a "Show log on completion" toggle in the copy/move confirmation dialogs would be good.
