Re: Caps Lock and drive change hotkeys
Thanks. SelfMan, but that key or value is non-existent. But I did something, that fixed it for my Win8 system. I changed the order of languages in the language control panel applet. I moved English (United States) to the top, then checked AS. The issue was gone. I changed it back, German (Germany) t...

Re: Caps Lock and drive change hotkeys
I now tried the virtual keyboard. It works as you said. The caps lock key does not influence the hot key combination.
I could not find any non-German HW-keyboards available to me.

Re: Caps Lock and drive change hotkeys
Do you talk about the hardware?
If I am not mistaken you just exchange the key caps.

Re: Caps Lock and drive change hotkeys
I can't believe no one can reproduce this. If so, certainly someone can tell me how to fix this on my end. With any AS version from 2.50 to 3.0 I checked, on any OS version from XP to Win 8 including server versions (not each end every one tested), regardless of x86 or x64, regardless of whether i c...

Re: App Paths problem
Yes, thanks Jan.
That's what I understood from the preceding communication. The solution is not perfect, but in my opinion absolutely adequate and sufficient.
I came up with the thoughts expressed in the former post while thinking about the perfect fix. I just thought I share.

Re: App Paths problem
Thanks, Jan. I thought about it again, and I came up with two possible solutions, both not perfect and maybe not worth the hassle: Try to compose the path from the values in the registry (user and machine) and additionally apply settings in App Paths (User or Machine) for salamand.exe on top of this...

Re: App Paths problem
We should probably introduce a new option (command line switch or inside AS configuration) to disable run-time environment variables regeneration. Yes, I thought about this, but hoped you'd be able to fix this for good. Are you able to pass such option as command line parameter? Yes, I was, but wou...

Re: Caps Lock and drive change hotkeys
Hi Jan, thanks for your investigation and reply. I use German windows. It' the same behavior for German (Germany) locale, both with deutsch and deutsch (IBM) layout. It is also the same with English (USA) locale and it's default layout US. This is tested on Windows 7 Professional. The incident that ...

x64 command line from AS x86
Hi everyone, I wondered, is there a way to launch the 64-bit version of cmd.exe from AS (x86) using its Command Shell command and/or the Command Line (Toolbar)? One way might be to alter the ComSpec environment variable to point to %SystemRoot%\sysnative\cmd.exe. What potential risks or incompatibil...

Re: App Paths problem
Hi mdruiter, I don't think so, but that was my guess at first also. But for one, values in App Paths are shared between subsystems since Win 7 (and this happens to be a Win 7 system). It used to be redirected, which strongly suggests that these settings are intended to be honored by design. And then...

Caps Lock and drive change hotkeys
Hi, I am not sure whether this is the default setting, but I use SHIFT+drive-letter to switch between drives. However, when Caps Lock is activated, AS treats the letter key without the Shift key pressed as it's hotkey. On old, mechanical typewriters, the caps lock key used to be a retainer for the s...

App Paths problem
On most machines I use Altap Salamander on, I usually add an entry under the the App Path registry key like thus: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\salamand.exe] @="C:\\Program Files\\Altap Salamander\\salamand.exe" "Path"="C:\\Program F...

Re: Copy files and disregard ext if already existing
I don't think you can do this with what AS provides right now. Your use case is rather specialized and scarcely apt for general inclusion. However, you can use scripting to solve your issue. The simplest approach was probably to first copy .flac and .mp3, then run a script that walks your library an...

Re: salamander 3 beta stuck in an endless startup crash loop
the clipboard viewer was again showing nothing. You were looking at the listbox labeled "Data Formats", weren't you? If the right side displays "( no viewer is available for this data format )", as in your screenshot, that does not mean that there is no data in the clipboard, on...

Re: Beta4 can not unpack *.gz
So, thinking that it's better to show nothing than to show nonsense, we removed it. Sorry for the confusion... Well, 0 is not "nothing", and as you have seen, causes confusion. Couldn't you display nothing (a blank space) or something to denote, that the size is unknown (a question mark f...
