This does not happen only when minimizing to tray, but also when minimizing to task bar. (schroeder's initial posting is unclear on this. It names the taskbar but describes the tray) You should note, that memory consumption shown in Windows Task-Manager is the working set, which is the amount of phy...

It does not matter whether you map a drive letter or just connect to the share using a UNC path. Regardless of what you choose, you'll have to disconnect from the share in order to connect to it using different credentials.

Dito. And delay needs to be rather high or configurable.

Hardlinks and Junctions

Mystico's request for virtual folders caused me to search for the ability to create hardlinks and junctions. But I could not find it in Servant Salamander. I used to create hardlinks from the command line and it never appeared to me, that it was so much more comfortable and easy create from within ...

Windows Explorer has two different completion aids, when entering a path e.g in it's address bar or in the filename box of an Open dialog box. 1) It suggests names and paths from a history list of previously use items. 2) It suggests files and folders that can be found on the system (disk, network, ...

I am puzzled at your comments. First, I must admit that I did not realize there was actually a shredder within Salamander. I now found it within the en/decrypt plugin. I had been thinking you were refering to deleting without sending to the recycle bin when talking about shredding. But now, how coul...

Can you delete it using Windows Explorer or from the command line (using del command)? I don't think * is a valid character within a stream name. You might try to run CheckDisk on the volume, or you might try to create a directory and move the file there, then delete the directory from the command l...

Have you ever thought of what would be the alternative? No window at all and guessing whether Windows recognised your (double) click to start up Salamander? Or using a temporary main window instead of the splash which will be moved and resized later, after configuration data has been read and proces...

What do you think was the advantage of using it for an existing app?

Salamander would certgainly loose support for Win95/98/ME/NT/2000. And what's the gain? A fancy look which is distracting from Work? :|

Registry Editor launch from Plugin

What about implementing F4, SHIFT-CTRL-F4 for registry keys?

The latter implies, that I should be able to configure more than one registry editor.

registry Editor Plugin's external Editor

How do I need to set up the registry Plugin to be able to properly modify e.g. a MULTI_SZ value? Is it possible at all to have an external Registry Editor to open up to the key? At the moment I get a temporary file, which I can modify. However, since this file is in a binary format, containing unico...

I don't think it is a good idea to have an application such as a file manager modify the behaviour of foreign programs. Salamander could do such a thing, if it uses an inplace viewer (e.g. an ActivX-control within a viewer window which belongs to Salamander (as for instance the Internet Explorer Vie...

Re: Full Windows Explorer Replacement?

Have you ever noticed that there are some areas where Servant Salamander cannot currently replace Explorer? Salamander handles things on a file system level, dealing with directories. Explorer on the other hand, deals with folders. Most of these are directories, some are linked to a directory (i.e. ...
