Check the access right on the existing subfolders too.
Change the owner of the shared folder to admin if it isn't and then let the access rights propagate to the existing subfolders.

Again, what are the NTFS permissions on the shared folder?

Also, you have to set up the share permissions && file level permissions on the folder.

When you run Salamander as standard user (not admnistrator) how does it behave?

You have to take in account that even in such case it behaves like a different user. If you are not in a domain, you have to create an identical username/password combo on the target machine to be able to get in. Also, you might add the followin registry key on the target system: REG ADD HKLM\SOFTWA...

Are you running Salamander as Administrator or in User level mode?
