Strange.
Wonder why is displays the "correct" icon for some, but not others? Even without the registry entry?

Perhaps on initial install, it would be correct, but if you cleared your Shell Icon Cache, it would revert to a "default" icon?

I see Auto-Select mentioned in the Help.
I just don't see it under Configuration (?) | Viewers & Editors | Internal Viewer?

Am I looking in the wrong place, or am I missing something obvious?

Re: Just for information: Icon in ControlPanel/Software

Not sure what you're meaning about "icons"?

Anyhow, for me both SS & AS show the regular Salamander icon in A/R.
Note that 2.5 release is now listed as Altap Salamander rather then Servant Salamander.

Checksum Values

Checksum Values How about posting some checksum values for the downloads? I typically use LeechFTP for ftp (& http downloads for that matter). Anyhow, downloading from your FTP site resulted in a corrupted download - twice. I compared the files to a (supposed as I haven't installed yet) good cop...

Another question.

Since you are preallocating, does that mean that the space used is contiguous?

(I gather by your reply above, that you're simply performing a system call, & NTFS handles the actual allocation, & it uses its' best means to allocate in contiguous blocks?)

Are we talking about different archivers here?
7zipsfx (presumably meaning Sfx7Zip) & Zip2Sfx?

Panel Multiple Sort Criteria

Panel Multiple Sort Criteria Suggestion to have ability for multiple sort criteria in Panel. Thinking most often this would involve Extension | Date sorting. From time to time, being able to sort a directory by Extension, then further by Date, would come in helpful. The secondary sort column could h...

Re: Directory Compare breaks for time differences

This means that time difference up to one hour will be ignored. So this is not solution to this problem ( we need exactly one hour ). Just to bump this & to add +- 2 seconds. (I'm not sure if this is an appropriate quote for what I believe I see from time to time, but ...) NT FAT, create time h...

Re: New file (Shift + F4) name selection

Maybe this should simply follow the (to be) setting of (F2) renaming files - either the old way, or the new way.

This idea sounds good to me.

Check if a mapped drive resolves to a local disk, & then do a rename rather then copy.

Sounds easy ;-), but then I know nothing of the programming aspects, nor if a mapped drive is treated differently where this would not be possible.

Disk Space Preallocation

Disk Space Preallocation Note: Salamander (version 2.5) will not fragment your destination drive because files are prealloacted at the beginning of each operation (Copy/Move/Unpack/...). http://forum.altap.cz/viewtopic.php?p=8658#8658 How does that work when an overwrite condition exists? Especially...

For me, it is quirky in the way it behaves, but not too bothersome. And actually, sometimes a subsequent find will reverse direction, before coming back to where it started from, & then proceeding in the proper direction. http://find-sjb.googlecode.com/files/find-sjb-quirks.TXT Search for '226' ...

We can also introduce a new option in the configuration to bring back old behavior. Yes, please. Could you please let us know how you like new behavior? Awful. And even if it were to be useful, depending upon how I wanted to rename, the cursor would then be on the wrong side of "dot" (.)....
