Altap Salamander hangs on install of plugins

I tried installing Altap Salamander in Win'98se. The installation went fine until it started loading the plugins. It stops on the FTP plugin. I tried moving the FTP plugin folder to a different location for testing. When I started Salamander I received an IPF: http://docfxit.googlepages.com/Salamand...

"Check for New Versions" Not working

I would like to see the "Check for New Versions" working again. I haven't seen it work for a couple versions now. I'd also like to see the capability of Altap being able to initiate an update without user input (silent). That way if Altap finds bugs (enhancements) they can be fixed without...

I have discovered I couldn't run anything because the Mouse double click was set too fast. After I slowed down the mouse setting it worked great again.

Thank you,

Yes I will. As soon as I go back to that location. It might be another week.

Folders greyed out

I had a very strange thing happen. Some of the folders in the root of C: were greyed out. When I clicked on them nothing happened. I couldn't navigate into the folders. If I did a right click and selected either open or explore windows explorer opened. Because explorer was able to open the folders I...

Hi Petr, The answer to your first question is yes. You had the best guesses. It wasn't a permissions problem at all. The files were set with the Read Only flag. I tried to remove the read only flag with Servant Salamander and couldn't. I get a window that says: "Change Attributes will probably ...

Hi, I found the log for the delete session. I signed on with the same user and deleted one of the same files. Here is the log: Delete File "(2nd last version of) ieupdate.DAT" from domain.com Host: "domain.com", port: 21. Log UID is 1, time is 11/20/2006 - 10:47:11 PM. (22:47:11)...

Can't delete files via FTP

I would like to delete some files via FTP. I am getting an error saying 550 unable to delete. This is a log when I was trying to delete files: Connecting to "domain.com" (XX.XX.196.61) on port 21. Log UID is 0, time is 11/18/2006 - 11:37:05 AM. 220-QTCP at domain.domain.com. 220 Connection...

Thanks for the tip. I have been using a different program that shows me what is locking the files. Now that I know why all the files are locked I just wanted to delete the rest of the files that aren't locked and do my backup.

Thanks,

Thanks for the suggestion. I have gotten burned with CCleaner. It deletes too much. If a person is going to use a program HDValet is a much better choice. I don't want an interactive program. I created a batch file that runs with no intervention so I can start it and leave (or go to sleep). After it...

Hi Jan,

Thank you for your help. I have come up with a solution that clears out a number of temp files in XP by making a batch file. I have emailed it to you just in case you would like to share it with your users.

Thank you,

Are you deleting files using Recycle Bin or using Servant Salamander internal routine (look a Options > Configuration > Recycle Bin). I am using the option "Move all deleted files and directories to the Recycle Bin" In the second case (Shift+Delete) there should be the "Skip All"...

How to Skip locked files while deleting

I frequently clear out the temp directory and a few others to keep systems running with less errors. There is always a varying number of files that are locked. I would like to find a way to skip t...
