Re: Support for Windows 7 Libraries feature

AFAIK, as yet no 3rd party tools support Windows libraries. IMO Salamander should support libraries, just because Salamander is a Windows file tool and should support the entire Windows file system. OTOH, whether Window's specific implementation of the file system abstraction they call libraries (an...

VBScript example: make folders from names of selected items

Here is a little VBScript I wrote to create new folders in the "opposite" panel based on a selection. It demonstrates iterating through a selection and performing an action on each member. '-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- '--- Make Fol...

Re: Some productivity tips

John, interesting points! Can you see any file manager "doing it right"? Windows Explorer? OSX Finder? Gnome Nautilus? Well, certainly not currently. Have you seen the Microsoft Courier demo videos? Here Here Ignore the pen/stylus input stuff and the general functional context presented i...

Re: Automation Script Contest: 3 Free Salamander Licenses

Hi Jan... I have a script to post but don't care about the disclaimer part. Is it OK to post a script (as text embedded in a forum posting) without including all that legalese in the comments? The script is just a "demo" or example and has no pretensions to be anything important or competi...

Re: Some productivity tips - mouse 0nly icon bars

so there's not much need to make Salamander available for mouse-centric users, let alone voice-centric. It's all about the target audience - most Salamander users are keyboard-centric and prefer quick access to functions through keyboard shortcuts rather than relatively slow and interrupting pointi...

Salamander Object Model Documentation?

Kudos to the Salamander team for the scripting interface (aka "Automation"). Very exciting!

Where can I find documentation for the object hierarchy and methods?

Proposal for MakeDir

I like how Salamander retains previously created folder names in the "Create Directory" dialog. My suggestion is for Salamander to propose a new folder name based on the current selection in the active file panel . This could be an optional setting controlled by a toggle in the dialog. For...

Feature requests priorities

Can't vote... don't care about either thing. My personal priorities: 1. Hierarchical favorites with unlimited entries 2. Quickview (document/plugin previews in "opposite" panel) 3. Populate the list of columns (in the choose columns dialog) with standard columns (EXIF/IPTC fields, Media ta...

Is Salamander development still active?

I recently returned to using Salamander (a little bit) after a long hiatus and am again reminded how intelligently designed, fast, smooth, attractive, and stable a product it is. I would like to use it as my main file manager, even in preference to several powerful competitors. The problem for my co...

I installed the new version. It seems to work fine with the TC plugins I tested except:

Salamander becomes unstable after the first alt-F3 file view using the INIEd plugin that I mentioned above.

That does work, thanks. Not as convenient but... it works! Excellent.

And thanks!

I have eagerly awaited this welcome enhancement of TC Proxy, but... ...the first two WLXs I tried were not successful: SGViewer INIEd The plug-ins installed without error and appear in the list for "alternate editors". I selected masks and associated them with the plug-ins, making sure to ...

Re: PREVIEW: Total Commander File System Proxy Plugin

I just downloaded AS2.52b1 and tried to add a few TC wfx plugins with the latest version of tcfs.spl referenced in the above post. Salamander refuses to add any of the TC wfx plugins I have tried. It wants an associated language (.slg) file which, of course, the TC wfx plugins do not have. I know I ...
