Yeah the bottom bar is not often used. But it is handy the ALTAP team implemented this. It's basically the same as lookin at the menu or when you forgot the shortcut key you can see it at the bottom right away.

The new button style looks nice to me

When you open SS it will start reading settings from registry. The splash screen shows what it is doing while you wait. There's no option built for switching this off. Whether you like it or not you still have to wait :D

Exactly KNUT. People complaining about the ALTAP team doing nothing are just lame. How many beta programs are as stable as SS have these guys tested? Users who don't know now programming sure complain a lot. It takes time to implement stuffs, solve difficult problems etc.. So far the ALTAP team has ...

Yes i understand what you mean. I just tested if it's possible in different viewers. It seems it's possible. Windows Picture Viewer & Fax Viewer still works if you change directories using windows explorer. Also if you use an external viewer like IrfanView in SS it still let you browse the direc...

4 instances of PV ? sounds to me you want PV to memorize all the picture files in many directories so you don't have to open 4 instances.

why not just browse another directory with the other panel? If you have 2 instances of SS you have 4 panels.

The answer is obvious isn't it? Just like when you switch directory PictView doesn't go to previous/next image cause you already left that directory. When you switch back from another directory it's still the same with PictView. It does not "memorize", so you need to press F3 again. If you...

Ctrl+Shift+Right
Very handy indeed. I discoverd it works as long as you don't point the UpDir item in the active panel.

back/forward functions for folders

I have a 5 button mouse (including the scrollwheel). If i use windows explorer i can use the 2 other buttons to go back/forward just like in a webbrowser.

Is it possible to implement this functionality in SS?

It's going to be released in summer 06. It's a good thing we testers encounter problems and report them so the release version is improved.
If you look at the roadmap the new features won't be implemented for 2.5

Just a few months from now so i'm sure you can wait. If not then switch to TC
