Find, sort and position

The block selection start position in Find is strange after sorting. I try: - search for (find) a long list of files and folders - go to position 20 or so - sort (say by size) so the selected line moves - press Shift+Down to add the next line to the selection The selection now starts at the former s...

Required file not found in the archive.

Try to open the attached archive: nothing.gz The TAR Plugin gives the error "Required file not found in the archive." That is because the (non-named) gzip file (stream) happens to be empty. Why wouldn't that be allowed? I think the archive is perfectly valid. Other tools like gunzip do not...

Re: End of support for Windows 2000, XP, Vista

When Windows XP SP3 and Windows Server 2003 (or before) are no longer officially supported, please do not check the OS version actively and refuse. I'm sure almost all functionality will work just fine.

Re: File list export from Find Files & Directories

If you also need the 'seconds' part of the file modification time (in Windows Vista or newer) you might want to use the forfiles command, like this: forfiles /p "$(FullPath)" /m "$(Name)" /c "cmd /c echo @fdate @ftime @fsize @path" So in full: setlocal ENABLEDELAYEDEXPA...

Check http://forum.altap.cz/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2758#p29436 for a solution that copies all properties of a long list of files.

Re: File list export from Find Files & Directories

I have found this a very useful solution.
Note that copying long lists of files can take some seconds or even minutes, but it does work. Don't copy anything else to the clipboard while waiting: the clipboard will be overwritten anyway.

Re: Explicit Name for New Network Drive

I have never tried to rename a network drive in such a way until you brought up the idea. Looks like those names are currently not used by Salamander, as you found out. They seem to be located in the registry: reg:\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MountPoints2\##M...

Re: Shift+click to expand Text Viewer selection

While at it, could Shift+Ctrl+End please extend the selection up till the end of the file (and Shift+Ctrl+Home from the start)? All cursor keys used with Shift could change the selection, then I would not even need to use the mouse! Except to select the start of the selection. Also text selec...

Extract xz archives

I have found the xz compression format to be unsupported. When I associate the .xz extension with the 7-Zip plugin, it says: Unsupported or unrecognized archive type. The archive file may have been heavily damaged. Similarly, the TAR plugin says: Archive format not recognised or not supported. I wou...

Shift+click to expand Text Viewer selection

To copy a part of a text document, I have to select it in one go, dragging the mouse all the way down. Other programs like browsers support Shift+click to expand an already selected region up to the clicked position. It would be great if the Salamander Text Viewer would allow that as well.

Also restore Include subdirectories

In the Batch Rename plugin, Ctrl+L restores the Last Used settings, which is great. But it does not restore the state of Include subdirectories: it always clears the checkbox. Why?

Re: End of support for Windows 2000, XP, Vista

At least for me, XP SP3 and Server 2003 are the minimal versions worth staying compatible for.
