U3

The first thing I discover when visiting a PC is the lack of Salamander. I can't live without it! Any chance of a U3 version?

ftp

If I have visited an ftp site and done what I need to do, then often I carry on with something else and don't bother to close down or log out. Later I then see a message that after a period of inactivity, Salamander has logged me out and it asks for confirmation. If I have finished, of course I conf...

Not in 2.51 or 2.52? :)

Edit: changed version numbers: 2.6 to 2.51, 2.7 to 2.52, and 2.8 to 2.53

Vista support

Happy to have a verison of Salamabder that won't stop working in a few months! I do however note it is less that ideal in Vista. When copying to sensitive locations (e.g. c:\Program Files), Vista asks for confirmation. But Salamander just refuses to copy. Can it be updated to include support for vis...

Yes, it is. Enjoy and have a nice weekend!
Great - the real thing! Salamander remains the best file manager there is. How do we Digg it? (Let's all Digg it!)

BTW - this forum still bears the name Servant... :)

FTP

The FTP probem seems still around. If I stay logged into an ftp server, after a while I get a warning that the connection has been lost and do I want to reconnect. The answer is usualy no, but if I give no then I still have to disconnect when I switch to a different drive. That is silly. If I say do...

Final version

Can we expect May to bring us the final version of Salamander?
It's been years of betas...
The only problem I still note is that even when you say you don't want to stay logged onto an ftp server, you still have to log out when leaving the page.

Thanks - that works. I note that a few 32 bit progs have problems installing. Now we just need a 64 bit Salamander and a RELEASE! :)

No Salamander on Vista!

I am now running Vista and can't install Salamander because I get an error: "Unable to spawn external program: requested operation requires elevation. Setup.exe." I searched on the web and found one other reference to this error message - also for Salamander. So it looks like it won't run ...

I'm sorry, but we cannot offer you more than I offered because the final version doesn't exist now. Good luck with another file manager. This tread is indeed pointing out the obvious. Salamander has been beta for FAAAAR too long, I am now running Vista and can't install Salamander because I get an ...

I'm a proud Servant Salamander user since the beginning, and have evangelized many a co-worker with its power. I have also been using salamander for many years, but am getting very tired of spending the last four years using betas, which always seemed to run out when I need them most but don't have...

ftp bugs

This week I had to send a file of 640 MB to DivX while troubleshooting some synchronisation problems. They gave me an ftp link which I tried to use to send them the file using Servant Salamander. However after 16 hours in which time SS had nearly sent the file about 10 times, I gave up and used Inte...
