Upgrade failed --> Upgrade from 3.02 to 3.04

I just upgraded from 3.02 to 3.04 on my Windows 8.1 computer and the installer on both the x86 and x64 failed --> yes I did run them separately. They hung. Here is a screen shoot of the install program hanging: http://i980.photobucket.com/albums/ae284/gworley1/ScreenShot11-16-14at1227AM_zps646d68ee....

Re: Message about Compatibility Mode in Win 8.1

I was having this problem after I installed version 3.03 (x86) on my Windows 8.1 and when I opened the properties of the shortcut in the taskbar, I could not change the compatibility mode as it was all greyed out. So I went to "c:\Program Files (x86)\Altap Salamander\" and clicked on the p...

Salamander 3.0 Beta 1 (x64) crashes while idle

I usually keep Salamander running so I have easy access to it. The Beta keeps crashing while not doing anything at all. I have sent the error reports to Altap when it crashes.

Re: What will replace Eroiica Viewer in 3.0?

I too am very disappointed that there is no way of quickly viewing things in the 64 bit version of 3.0. It is one of the reasons I use Salamander is that you can quick view things without launching the main program to see if it is the file that you are looking for. I currently see no difference in 2...

Folder Links copying the contents of the link

I just discovered something that I didn't like... With Windows 7 there are massive folder links for legacy purposes -- i.e. "Documents and Settings" is linked to "Users" and "All Users\Application Data" is linked to "AppicationData"... etc.... Because of a vir...

Re: Massive Error 32 on file move

Actually no because Salamander is trying to delete a the file before the Virus Scan is done. It would be the same thing with any Anti-Virus program not just Avast. I tried another Anti-Virus Program -- AVG -- set to scan every file as it was opened and had the same issue.

Massive Error 32 on file move

I have just tried to move 220 GB of files from one drive ot another and about every couple of minutes I am getting an error 32. I turned off my anti-virus program -- Avast, which is set to scan every file because these files were from a system that contained a virus and I don't want to transfer a fi...

Re: Handling of SFX RAR multi-volume archives.

There are several reasons one might want multiple volume SFX files. Some legit and some not legit. I use it for for backup purposes or to transfer to CD-ROM and transport to another computer which may or may not have any form of RAR decompressor on the computer. Sort of using it as a "installer...

Handling of SFX RAR multi-volume archives.

WinRAR version 3.90 beta 5 can create self-extracting multi-volume archives. I have quite a few of them. The files are like the following: rar.part1.exe rar.part2.rar rar.part3.rar rar.part4.rar I accidentally double click on "rar.part3.rar" and was ask for the first volume and I decided t...

iPod - Enable Disk use and AS 2.52 beta 1

I was happy to see that AS 2.52 beta 1 has Auto-update. I have found an issue with it not working with an iPod. Windows XP assigned drive L to my iPod 120 gig Classic. AS 2.52 beta 1 only updates the free space if the iPod's drive is being access by AS. It sometimes but not always updates with AS as...

"Documents" verses "My Documents"

Can I say upfront that I really don't like Vista and do not plan on upgrading anytime soon -- got a free upgrade on my laptop as I bought it within the time frame that HP was given free upgrades from XP. The current beta, 2.52 beta 1, changes the "My Documents" to "Documents".......

Bug Report... Combine Plugin - too narrow window

I have been meaning to make this bug report for sometime but haven't had a chance. Well is is just a minor annoyance not a major bug. If the file names are larger the the space provided, there is no way to see the complete file name. I cannot re-size the box. There isn't a scroll bar. There isn't an...

Corrupt Archives (ZIP, RAR, etc...)

Thank you for your reply.... Yes I mean .ZIP files and .RAR files as opposed to partitions. WinZIP gives little options for recovery of corrupted .ZIP files. Their website in fact guides you to InfoZip's command line based utility for recovery. InfoZip doesn't deleted the files when invalid CRC is e...

Corrupt Archives

I have run across some corrupt archives. And have had problems extracting the contents using Servant Salamander. Servant Salamander will only extract the "good" files and will not partially extract the "bad" files. The CRC is wrong on these files, however, when I go use the undel...
