I often need to send paths to colleagues who work on osx or linux.

I kinda like the limit, it helps curb the tendency to make labyrinthine directory structures.

yeah what icons? With my setup there's... 3. I don't care about changes to icons so long as they are optional and don't slow anything down.

Copy Unix path + file as text. EG:
\\yourdomain\yourdir\afile.ext
is copied as:
/yourdomain/yourdir/afile.ext

The scripts are launched from within 3dsmax.
A second servant salamander will lock up too.
My guess is max is hogging some shared resource.
Are there any utilities I can use to test this?

whenever I run a loop in maxscript (in 3d studio max)
servant salamander will lock up. it is then released once

It would be nice to have both; a navigable and editable path
inside a drop-down list. I'll try to find an example.

yep it was an extension problem, an
error can be generated if I switch off
salopen. using salopen can cause a
lengthy delay as described.
an error report has been emailed.
problem does not occur at all in explorer,
so I have to use that for now.

been having unusual lockups when
opening files on the network or
when dragging a file from salamander
to another app. problem is not readily
reproducible though.
never experienced this problem with
older versions.
will try to pin-down a reproducable case.
