Re: Windows 8 Permissions

... And I thought I hated Vista!!!1 Thanks for the responses. I would expect \Program Files (x86)\ to be a SpecialFolder. One that you as a user are not able to write to, directly. I have been able to rename, move, delete etc. before. I can't see why it works fine on some files and not on others. In...

Hi All, I recently bought a laptop that came installed with Windows 8.0. Often when I want to move an app I have downloaded to another Directory, I get a message that says "You do not have permission to do this" I also get the same message when I try and rename a file. I am the only user a...

Selecting a Printer

Hi.

I have two printers, a pdf printer and "send to OneNote installed. The PDF printer is set as the Default printer.

How can I select any of the above printers to print a highlighted document.

Right-clicking and selecting "Print" sends it to the default printer only.

Thanks

Re: Annoying message on launching Salamander 2.54

After reading your post, I checked and you are quite right.
The .reg file was the wrong one. I re exported the correct one into the root folder and all is okay now.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction

Annoying message on launching Salamander 2.54

Hi, 1. I recently upgraded from 2.53 to 2.54. 2. I exported the 2.53 settings into 2.54 3. I then moved the .reg file into the Salamander 2.54 programme folder (I still have 2.53 in a separate folder) 4. Everything seemed fine till I made some changes and re-saved the configuration AND exported it. ...

Configuration Does Not Save on Exit

Hi All, I hope you can help me with this problem. I am using Salamander 2.53 under Vista Home. I first noticed this problem when I tried to change some items in my "Hot Paths" menu bar. I make the changes, and shut down, but when I re-launch, the changes have not been changed. "Option...

Re: Changing the default folders in each panel

Thank you Ether! I went to the icon\Properties\Target and changed the path as you suggested to; "C:\Program Files\] Dir - File Managers\Dir - Explorers\Salamander 2.53\salamand.exe" -L "C:\Program Files" -R "D:\" Now each panel opens in the specified directory every tim...

Re: Changing the default folders in each panel

Still not working. 1. Checked configuration - it was set to save on exit 2. Checked path in properties of the launch icon. Nothing set there 3. Restarted with C:\Program Files in the left panel and D:\ in the right panel. Still opens in the same (unwanted) paths as before 4. Changed the properties i...

Changing the default folders in each panel

Hi All,

Whenever I launch Salamander, both the left and right panels always open in the same folders (each one different).

Is there a way I can change Salamander so that each panel always open in the folders of my choice?

Thanks in anticipation.

Re: Copying from one panel to another stopped working

As I regularly backup my registry using "Registrar Registry Manager" (freeware) I restored a previous backup and all is well again. So the problem must be in the registry and not with Salamander. In any event, thank you for your support. Regards, Tony from a sunny South Africa "Stop T...

Re: Copying from one panel to another stopped working

I usually right-click on the source file in panel 1 and drag it to the destination folder in panel 2 and release the right mouse button. Salamander used to then show a menu asking me if I wanted to; - Move the file - Copy the file - Other Now if I right-click on the source file and drag it to the de...

Hi, I have been using Salamander for years. Suddenly last week when I tried copying a file from one direcory (in panel 1) to another directory (in panel 2), nothing happens! Dragging does work in other programmes (e.g. Q-Dir) when copying as above. I can't seem to see anything in the configuration s...
