Salamander's "config_.reg" (font, color, icons only)

Only 60,000 characters allowed, so see the attached file. I'm only a wordsmith, not a programmer. So no fancy programming stuff is done.

Salamander imitators & also-rans.

The following was posted for open general public discussion: https://www.reddit.com/r/altap_salamander/comments/ookeyk/salamander_imitators_alsorans/ In Windows, nothing compares. In Linux, Salamander will work with WINE ok. As usual, WINE has font & theming problems. But it "works". L...

REDDIT on ALTAP SALAMANDER. Just started.

I have been "Servant Salamander" ever since it was created. One of the original paid up & registered users. Before Heaven introduces me to all its "virgins", this is my parting gift. Freeware. Best file manager, atm, for Windows. Best of any other, on any other operating syst...

Re: HiDPI support

Hi, my solution is to right-click the shortcut, go to Properties window, Compatibility tab and select "System" under "Override high DPI scaling behavior." "System (Enhanced)" looks much better, but it brokes UI of TortoiseGit when used from within Salamander. Worked we...

Re: Copying files as zero byte files

COPY, MOVE can do this in SS (Servant Salamander) for as long as I can remember. Just tried it out now also on the latest freeware version (4.0). On both COPY, MOVE, select OPTIONS, ADVANCED, FILE SIZE, AT MOST. The most is 1-BYTE. This allows easy way to list zero-length files, plus SUB-DIR (folder...

Re: Copy Path + Name as Text (Alt+Insert) enhancements

Interesting thread. I only have the one hand now: car accident created MOUSE-ONLY usage. Keyboard is clumsy, compared to mouse-clicks. Instead of the "(Alt+Insert) enhancements", I use: (1) "CopyPathSetup.exe", 607 KB (622,271 bytes). The url is: http://download.cnet.com/CopyPath...

Deleting IMPOSSIBLE-TO-DELETE-FILES

Interested in comments to my "researches" ... into Windows & Salamander. STANDARD HARDWARE & OPERATING SYSTEM, almost. My Dell XPS-15 notebook (2013) setup: Running Windows-10, version 10586, downloaded fresh from the official Microsoft site. Standard Dell configuration was one-TB ...

Re: Why I am abandoning Altap Salamander

Pity you want to abandon the one (& ONLY ONE) International language on Planet Earth. It's not perfect, but the software engineers' have yet to perfect it properly. Perhaps the next United Nations project? Curious what you will use instead. On my Linux distros, there is nothing worthwhile. In Wi...

Re: Servant Salamander on Linux

Just a quick idea. There's no need for porting be as long as you can run Altap Salamander using Wine or CodeWeavers' CrossOver (not sure about these now). To make it useful I see creating a filesystem plugin (Unix-native binary with both APIs) handling all additional features such as (at least) lin...

Some productivity tips

Noticed that these foruma are used by PROGRAMMERS, .... not by the typical END-USER. So much emphasis on the KEYBOARD, not the MOUSE. SS is the modern update to DOS "NORTON COMMANDER". Programmers need to know that SS is also powerful for modern end-users, who use a MOUSE and VOICE-ACTIVAT...
