Re: HiDPI support

Hi, my solution is to right-click the shortcut, go to Properties window, Compatibility tab and select "System" under "Override high DPI scaling behavior." "System (Enhanced)" looks much better, but it brokes UI of TortoiseGit when used from within Salamander. Worked well for me, also. Tested it fir...

Re: Copying files as zero byte files

COPY, MOVE can do this in SS (Servant Salamander) for as long as I can remember. Just tried it out now also on the latest freeware version (4.0). On both COPY, MOVE, select OPTIONS, ADVANCED, FILE SIZE, AT MOST. The most is 1-BYTE. This allows easy way to list zero-length files, plus SUB-DIR (folder...

Re: Copy Path + Name as Text (Alt+Insert) enhancements

Interesting thread. I only have the one hand now: car accident created MOUSE-ONLY usage. Keyboard is clumsy, compared to mouse-clicks. Instead of the "(Alt+Insert) enhancements", I use: (1) "CopyPathSetup.exe", 607 KB (622,271 bytes). The url is: http://download.cnet.com/CopyPath/3001-2248_4-1053717...

Deleting IMPOSSIBLE-TO-DELETE-FILES

Interested in comments to my "researches" ... into Windows & Salamander. STANDARD HARDWARE & OPERATING SYSTEM, almost. My Dell XPS-15 notebook (2013) setup: Running Windows-10, version 10586, downloaded fresh from the official Microsoft site. Standard Dell configuration was one-TB HDD, one mSATA SSD...

Re: Why I am abandoning Altap Salamander

Pity you want to abandon the one (& ONLY ONE) International language on Planet Earth. It's not perfect, but the software engineers' have yet to perfect it properly. Perhaps the next United Nations project? Curious what you will use instead. On my Linux distros, there is nothing worthwhile. In Window...

Re: Servant Salamander on Linux

Just a quick idea. There's no need for porting be as long as you can run Altap Salamander using Wine or CodeWeavers' CrossOver (not sure about these now). To make it useful I see creating a filesystem plugin (Unix-native binary with both APIs) handling all additional features such as (at least) lin...

Re: Some productivity tips - mouse 0nly icon bars

The first two pictures use PICTVIEW screen capture, inbuild into every SS. ; looking at my PREVIEW in this forum, my images seem not to display. ; I have greater details & explanations behind my choice of icons. ; How do we upload photos to this forum, if possible. Re: Some productivity tips

; [Sorry about spelling errors; using Avant Browser in Vista, since Sharetastic is busy, but Opera (inbuilt spell heck) has crashed until I reboot.] ; [no apologies for my "arrogance"; it's based on genuine expertise & life experience] :( SS use by mouse alone? Most op sys have an on-screen keyboard...

Some productivity tips

Noticed that these foruma are used by PROGRAMMERS, .... not by the typical END-USER. So much emphasis on the KEYBOARD, not the MOUSE. SS is the modern update to DOS "NORTON COMMANDER". Programmers need to know that SS is also powerful for modern end-users, who use a MOUSE and VOICE-ACTIVATION (Drago...

Re: Servant Salamander on Linux

Also waiting for the SS version for Linux. I have OPENSUSE Linux as backup for Windows crashes. Agree with comments with others here. One big complaint: SS is so powerful, I'm staying with Windows. Linux does not have the equivalents to SS, Dragon Naturally Speaking, Omnipage. Opera (my preferred In...

Servant Salamander pod Linux

Love to be able to read this language ... but I only know THE ONE international language on this planet. If SS is ever to want to grow up, it should realize that the planet is not just the one ethnicity. Most forums of this type have an International (Google? link to allow easy translation of the fo...
