Re: Is Salamander dead?

I have requested unicode support around early 2006 i believe and to this very day still patiently waiting for it without ever complaining even once. Other requests and bugfixes had higher priorities among the users so unicode was put in the freezer. Obviously I was thrilled when the developers annou...

Hi Guys, can you please start introducing monthly updates (even if its one line) just so we know the altap team is still alive.
Give it up dude, you have been repeatedly asking for any updates since last year every few months. And now you start demanding monthly updates? LOL

vulnerability in UNACEV2.DLL

There's a security vulnerability in UNACEV2.DLL library. The vulnerability makes it possible to create files in arbitrary folders inside or outside of destination folder when unpacking ACE archives. UNACEV2.DLL had not been updated since 2005 so it's best to drop ACE archive format support. It comes...

i give up. i'm not an advanced user - just wanted to see thumbnails inside salamander.

i'll have to use file explorer instead.

jorgensen
If you want I can recommend you another tool for thumbnails instead of using file explorer :)

Re: Issue with PictView Being Tied to Current Folder

Actually you can open two PictView (PV) instances for each AS instance. Each panel pointing at different directories allows you to open two PV screens. Once you switch to another directory, pressing F3 a third PV instance shows up leaving the other one stuck with the last opened image unable to scro...

Re: Any news? Any upcoming version?

Unicode is more complicated than expected (see troubles with basic support for RTL texts above). Plus everything complicated by support for long paths (32k chars = small stack for recursions, too long text of all error messages with included paths, etc.). Plus GDPR, taxes and other bureaucracy. I d...

I'm pretty sure that they spent all the time on the product. They haven't no other product in their portfolio.
I seem to recall them saying that developing Salamander was not their main job, and it wasn't very profitable.
Now this is news to us here
