After this thread came up I had an attentive look at my personal use of the 'Quick Rename' feature (F2). To cut a long story short: I only change the extension for testing purposes, e. g. if I want to see, if an exe-file is a self-extracting zip-archive. As Egbert pointet out, normally it's no big d...

Option to keep counter settings in Batch Rename
I often make use of the 'Counter' - feature of Batch Rename. There I prefer to start with 1, have a minimal width of 2 and to fill with zeros. Although I know meanwhile by heart that the syntax for this counter is $(Counter:1,1,d,2,0) it would be helpful to have the option to keep the last used coun...

Alternate viewer for unicode-files
This is a very useful tip. Lister32 nearly looks like the internal viewer and is integrated very well in Servant Salamander. I use it on first place in my list of alternate viewers so I can reach it easily with ALT+F3.Stefan wrote:I use Lister32 from Mr. Ghisler for unicode files.

Re: Files - Email will not work with Pegasus Mail
Who wrote that you have to replace the existing mapi32.dll? The extracted version should be renamed to mapi32x.dll. The existing mapi32.dll should stay. There may be a misunderstanding. First I followed exactly your steps. The only difference was the one I mentioned, namly that there is no mapi.dll...

Re: Files - Email will not work with Pegasus Mail
Thank you roger, but indeed, my mileage varies and your tip doesn't work on my XP-system. There is no 'mapi.dll' in 'c:\windows\system32' (only a 'mapi32.dll'), but this should no problem, because the mapi.dll from winpmmapi.exe is copied to the system folder. Nevertheless nothing happens. If I repl...

Re: Files - Email will not work with Pegasus Mail
Did you check "Set Program Access and Defaults" in "Add or Remove Programs"? I have checked it. The configuration pane in 'User defined' only has the option 'Use actual email program' (your label may be different because I use the german version of XP). The actual email program ...

Files - Email will not work with Pegasus Mail
The command 'Files - Email
' doesn't work on my system (Win XP Home, SP2, all recent updates). After clicking 'Yes' in the confirmation dialog nothing happens. I'm using Pegasus Mail 4.31, it's my default mailer, but it was the same with the previous version (4.21c). It doesn't make a difference if ...

ENA decryption utility
There doesn't exist other tool with support for the ENA format. We can provide such small utility, but there wasn't demand until today... Hi Jan, thanks for your answer! There will be far more important tasks for you than providing a stand-alone-tool for ENA-decryption. This is not a feature reques...

ENA format specification, decryption w/o Servant Salamander?
The tooltip for the 'encrypt'-plugin on http://www.altap.cz/download.html tells me, that the format specification for the .ENA-format is available. Could someone tell me, where I can find this specification? A first Google-search was not successful. Furthermore I would like to know, if there is a th...

Behaviour of icons for 'sort-by' in middle toolbar
In SS beta 11 I have moved the toolbar icons for - sort by name - sort by extension - sort by size - sort by date from the top toolbar to the middle toolbar. In the middle toolbar , these toolbar icons do no reflect the actual file-sorting status of the active panel. If I click on an icon, the files...

Hide name of key file in Encrypt-Plugin
If I use a key file in the encrypt-plugin , the name of the last used key file will always be shown. There seems to be no way to turn off this behaviour in SS (plugin) configuration. :( In order to offer maximum security, a 'remember key file' or a 'show last keyfile' checkbox in the encryption dial...

Re: Comparing two differently named files using internal plu
Hi,
I like it the way it is now. The need to select the differently named file in the inactive panel always makes it obvious, which files will be compared, even if I am distracted for some reason before I start the comparison.

Productivity tip for 'Compare Directories'
The 'Compare Directories' Command always selects files that are not present in the other panel. If you do not want to have these files selected but simply want to know, which files, that are already present in both panels, have different content, you can use the following steps: 1) Activate the pane...

Navigation keys in internal viewer
Thanks a lot for the hint! Internal viewer is even more useful now. Imho ALTAP should consider using 'Backspace' instead of 'Shift+space' in the final version because Backspace is also used in PictView for viewing the previous file. I cannot see that this key is occupied by another function in inter...
