Hi there -> a small request here.
If there could be an option to sort the history list of last used directories alphabetically.
And an even better solution would be something like this:
for the upper 5 items there would be 'last used directories' as currently -> no order or as used,
then there would be a separator line and
then alphabetically used directories that you have used some time ago.
Why all this?
Simply searching to find just the right directory you want to return to is very hard -> especially if you have 20+ directories listed.
So finding the right directory would be very quick.
This feature would definitely be a nice too see in Salamander and can't wait the next version of Salamander.
Peace
Waldemar

I on my own like to have on the right side
only the history of the right panel
and vis versa.
Sorry , that's the way *i* work
(I can imaging i have posted this wish bevor, hmm )
Maybe an good solution is
to have on the right side only
the history from the right side
AND one entry with an sub-menu with the history of the left side
and vis versa.
(YES, i have posted this somewhere else )
only the history of the right panel

This is not the problem of left and right panels -> the directory listings for left and for right should stay separate as they are now.
The problem is that the list gets very unreadable/unsearchable when there are a lot of entries in it. So my proposal was to use upper 5 lines for the last directories used and then from 7th line forward the directories should be alphabetically sorted.
So an example:
line dire
1. lastDirUsed
2. beforeLastDirUsed
3. beforeBeforeLastDirUsed
4. beforeBeforeBeforeLastDirUsed
5. beforeBeforeBeforeBeforeDirUsed
6. --------------------------------- (<- separating line)
7. \
8 |
9. |
10. | all the dirs that fell out of the upper 5 lines should be put here
11. | and alphabetically sorted
12. |
. .
. .
. .
In this way the directory listing is easy searchable. : )

???
This list are not separate but merged from left and right history.
Did i understand you wrong?
----
BTW
even better would be an search able history list:
1. click on the little down arrow
2. type a few first letter from the path or folder you want to change in
2b and SS should go in the history list to the first entry with this letter found
2c scroll with the arrow key to the history entry you want
hmm, like in the panels if you search for an folder.
---
BTW
and what's about more entrys in this history list..., ..scroll able like
the start menu with dozent of entrys.
Normal you would see only the standard amount of 30-40 entrys
but if you scroll down you will see more.
Would be sometimes nifty.
---
And what's about an kind of "black list" for the history...
... i mean exclude drive Z: and the cd-rom drive from store in the history
... or exclude my private sub sub folder
... or an "white list"
exclude sub-folder from an deep of 4 sub-folder, than merge all
this sub sub sub fiolder entrys to one history entry only.
C:\DocASet\User1\MyDocs\Tools\Network\Tool1
C:\DocASet\User1\MyDocs\Tools\Network\Tool2
C:\DocASet\User1\MyDocs\Tools\Network\Tool3\Doc\v1.2
and show f.ex. only in the history
C:\DocASet\User1\MyDocs\Tools\
???

Yep - you're right. Now I would like to hear something from Altap-StuffWaldemar wrote:Well, we are probably going a little to far now.
For start adding the option to alphabete the list would be good enough for me.
And maybe to limit the amount of items you want to see -> how deep the history is.
So that the Z starting dirs wont go to "the other subpages".
Peace
Waldemar

Original Waldemar's request plus Rogo's and JohnFredC's ideas - it is a winner combination, I think.
